After whole-mount staining of nerves (tubulin III antibodies) and of connective tissue (fast-green staining), the 3 mm embryonic hand was cleared and imaged with confocal microscopy. The full volume was assembled from 300 tiles (250 optical sections each).
We introduced in 2023 a simple and robust method of whole-mount staining with the ‘Fast Green’ dye that provides unmatched visualisation of 3D collagen network architecture (via confocal or light-sheet microscopy), especially useful in developmental and cancer biology
The annotations give access to a high-resolution image and to zoomed regions in the volumetric data.
