The corn snake genome is now in the DNA Zoo

January 13th, 2022

Corn snakes juste became member of the DNA Zoo

Using our near-chromosome genome assembly (Ullate-Agote et al., 2020; genome browser) as the starting point and using the 3D-DNA pipeline (Dudchenko et al. 2017) and Juicebox Assembly Tools (Dudchenko et al., 2018), the team of Prof. Parwinder Kaur (University of Western Australia) produced a chromosome-length genome assembly of the corn snake genome, making it the best sequenced snake genome to date. This spectacular resource will be very helpful for our work to map mutations responsible for the different corn snake color morphs.

The new assembly can be downloaded from the DNA Zoo website.
