Easy visualisation of our 3D models

January 19th, 2026

Many of our research projects produce three-dimensional (3D) data, which can be visualised as digital 3D models. These models are generated through surface scanning techniques or from volumetric imaging approaches such as light-sheet and confocal microscopy.

We now make several of these models available for direct visualisation on our website. Each model is accompanied by a short text describing its scientific context, along with links to the corresponding scientific articles. Links to illustrative videos are also provided. If you have a virtual  reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) headset, our models can also be explored in VR/AR environments.

Note that some of these models can be downloaded for 3D printing. If you do not have access to a 3D printer, you can order the 3D prints directly here at a very low cost (you only pay for the resin and delivery).

These 3D prints make excellent teaching tools for the classroom, for research discussions, or simply as striking pieces showcasing the beauty of developmental mechanisms.

Enjoy!
